We took a break from Felix’s vacation from working for me to go to my psychiatrist’s office on Wednesday. I decided to set up my camera on my wheelchair and record it to see if we got any interesting videos of service dog or wheelchair user experiences.
Felix was back to being happy to work, which made me very happy! It seems this vacation is just what he needs. I also gave him lots of treats while he was working, which helped make him happy LOL!
At first we headed in to the office and the waiting room from the car. There was a car parked with its bumper over the sidewalk, so we had a hard time fitting by them on the way in. But Felix did a good “through” (going through a narrow space ahead of me), and walked nicely into the office. He did try to sniff the person in the waiting room we had to walk past, but he’s a little out of practice so I understand. Here’s that video:
We were only in the waiting room a short while before we were called back to the office. There are a number of nurse practitioners in the office, and I never know which one I will be seeing. Unfortunately it was the one with the inaccessible office.
I first saw her about a year ago, and her desk is so wide that I can’t get past it in my wheelchair to sit on the other side of it. I can’t even get far enough in the room to close the door. So I have to sit in my wheelchair in the doorway for my private medical appointment. I thought after the first time this happened she’d rearrange her furniture so her room was accessible, or at least get a different desk or see me in someone else’s office. But nope! I just have to hang out practically in the hallway for my appointment. Ugh. Here’s a video of that happening:
When my appointment was done, I headed up front to make my next appointment. Felix knows the office like a pro and was so good, not even needing cues to know what to do! Here’s that video:
Then we were off back to our car. Felix did a good job walking next to me down the narrow sidewalk outside, and you get another look at how narrow the space is since that person decided to park with their bumper over the sidewalk.
It was a nice short outing, and Felix was happy to work and that was great for me to see. I am going to keep him on light duty for a while longer so that he retains his joy of working and doesn’t get overworked again… At least until my next Ohio trip LOL.
