SC State Fair: finishing up

After the circus, we decided to head towards Heritage Village, which is an old timey village where people make traditional crafts. On the way there, Brad got some pictures of us walking through the crowds. We also got sidetracked by a building with exhibits from each of the counties in South Carolina, including a cutout of Lizard Man from Lee County. Sabrina learned to play the washboard guitar, which looked like a lot of fun!

Heritage Village was pretty cool! They had glassblowers and leather stampers, and wool felters, and all sorts of old timey crafts. It was on grass, so a bit bumpy in our chairs, but we made it through! Brad made sure to get some good portraits of Sabrina and Faith and Sabrina and me in the sunshine!

We wanted to stop by the ag building on the way back, but I had a hankering for some lemonade, so Brad got some pictures of us walking through the fair and me getting my lemonade. There’s also a picture of someone taking a picture of Felix, which I allowed because they asked me nicely first.

We had to stop by the Ag building one more time to get more chapstick for Brad, and for Sabrina to get some honeycomb and some of the really neat fruit and vegetable breads they had for sale. We took this opportunity to get some pictures of Brad in his blue and purple getup. And I even got a few with Sabrina and Brad together!

Alas, we were too tired to continue any more, so we left Sabrina and Faith to explore the fair more while the rest of us headed back to the car. Little did we know the adventures that still awaited.

When we had arrived, we had been pleased to find a spot with an access aisle for the ramp. So we parked there without a second thought. Apparently the people doing parking had decided that access aisles were just extra parking spots! So people were parked in the access aisles on both sides of our van! We were hopping mad!!!!!!! Brad got some pictures, but apparently my angry face looks a lot like my thrilled face, so most of them didn’t turn out too well.

We had three wheelchairs to load into the car, so it’s not a quick thing. But the only choice we had was to have me drive the car out into the road and block traffic while we all loaded into the van. The drivers trying to get by were very mad! But not as mad as we were!

We managed to get everyone and all mobility devices inside the van OK, and headed off home. We had fun talking on the way home, but when we got to our place, our bodies crashed (cue slide-whistle sound effects). We were so tired! It was a good day at the fair, but it took up a lot of energy!!!!!
