Relaxing at the playground

When we were in Ohio recently, Felix was a bit scared when my nieces were rambunctious. So we’re going to be doing some training to get him more used to kids that are screaming and running. He’s totally fine with calm kids, and we usually aren’t around rambunctious kids, so this is a deficiency in our training.

So today we went to a local playground. I sat outside the perimeter of the playground with him on my lap for 15 minutes. He was definitely observing all the screaming and running, but didn’t seem overly concerned. More aware than concerned. During that time, three kids came over to talk with us and I had them put their hands out flat so that Felix could eat a treat off of their hands. He liked that!

After our fifteen minutes, I decided Felix needed some time to decompress a bit, so we went on a 10-minute walk. He was happy to get to sniff and pee in the park!

I got a video while we were there, and two pictures. One picture is of Felix with the kids in the background, and the other is a selfie of us together. Felix is a sable and white Japanese Chin, and I have short brown curly hair. We are both wearing purple. In the video, Felix looks around at the kids but doesn’t appear scared or anything.
