Alice upon this rock: a mask ministry

Tonight Alice and I went to get some free KN-95 masks provided by Upon This Rock 3-Chord Ministries. I had seen their post on Facebook, and since these masks were just too expensive for Brad and me to purchase, I decided to head over.

Brad was too ill to come with me, so I took Alice. I thought it’d be a drive-through event, so I didn’t bring treats or anything with me. I just figured it was a ride in the car.

When I got there, I realized I had to go inside and panic flooded my veins. For those who don’t know, churches don’t have to allow service dogs or service dogs in training. I feared they would reject me and not allow me to enter with Alice. But I really needed the masks, so I worked up the courage and held Alice close to my chest as I walked through the door.

Luckily I needn’t have worried at all! There were three very nice ladies in there who were super happy to see us and give us the masks. We had a nice little conversation about service dogs, and they were very supportive! They made me feel super welcome and happy!

Thank you again to Upon This Rock 3-Chord Ministries!!! These masks will help us feel so much safer when we are out and about!

I got a couple of pictures in front of their sign. In both of them, Alice is a tiny sable and white Japanese Chin wearing a purple vest. In one of them it’s just Alice and me, and in the other the person in charge is with us as well (sorry, I didn’t get her name!). We are both wearing KN-95 masks and holding packages of them.
