(Videos and pictures below) A couple weeks ago, Brad and I went on a trip to Washington, DC for some service dog advocacy.
We chose to take the train, as that is so much safer when traveling with a power chair. Our train was supposed to leave at 2AM, but it was delayed until 4AM. I was actually happy about that because I got two hours more sleep! Luckily we checked how late the train was on our computers (well, Brad did while I was sleeping!).
On the way up, I took videos of Brad loading and unloading from the train in his wheelchair. We included wait times for the manual wheelchair lifts to be found and brought to the train. Unfortunately my hands were shaky, so the video isn’t the best. But it does what it is intended to!
When we got to DC, I started feeling a lot of pain in my abdomen. So we went right to the hotel to check in. Unfortunately the room was not ready. I found a couch in the lobby and lay down on it to ease my pain. Hestia stayed on the floor in front of me, and Brad got some great pictures of it!
The next day we had our advocacy meetings. They went pretty well! It was worth going for sure to get our points of view across to the people we met with. We also made a promotional PSDP video while we were there. Brad did a great job filming, editing, and producing the video!
On the train ride back the next day, Hestia kept getting up on my neck and chest area to hang out while I was lying down watching youtube on my phone. It was super cute, and Brad got quite a few pictures, including one of her turning around on top of me with her butt completely in my face LOL!
The trip was good overall, and we got a lot accomplished. Sorry we haven’t been able to get around to uploading the pictures until now!
